Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to plug your sweat glands so you sweat less. Natural deodorants like 'Under Control' don't stop you sweating at all - sweating is your body's natural way of cooling down and it's completely odourless on its own. The smell comes from bacteria breaking down sweat on your skin.
'Under Control' works on the smell, not the sweat. Magnesium Hydroxide and a gentle touch of Baking Soda create an environment that odour-causing bacteria don't like, Arrowroot Powder absorbs moisture so you feel dry and comfortable, and the essential oils keep everything smelling fresh. You'll still sweat when you're hot or active - you just won't smell.

Is this an antiperspirant?
No - and that's by design. Antiperspirants use aluminium salts to block your sweat glands. 'Under Control' is a natural deodorant, which means it stops the smell, not the sweat. You'll still perspire when you're hot or active (that's your body cooling itself down), but the magnesium, baking soda and essential oils keep odour-causing bacteria in check so you stay fresh.
Will I still sweat?
Yes. Sweat itself is odourless - the smell only happens when bacteria break it down on your skin. 'Under Control' targets that process, and the arrowroot absorbs moisture so you feel dry and comfortable. If you need to completely stop sweating for medical reasons, a natural deodorant isn't the right product for you.
I'm switching from an antiperspirant. What should I expect?
Give it a week or two. Many people notice they sweat a little more in the first few days as their sweat glands get back to normal after years of being blocked. This settles down. Applying to clean skin straight after a shower, and reapplying once mid-afternoon if needed, makes the transition much easier.
How long does it last?
Around 8+ hours on a normal day. On very hot days, during heavy exercise or if you're prone to sweating, you may want a quick top-up in the afternoon. This is normal for all natural deodorants - we'd rather be honest with you than over-promise.
Does it contain baking soda? I've had rashes from natural deodorants before.
It contains a very small amount. Most natural deodorant irritation comes from high levels of baking soda, which is quite alkaline. We use Magnesium Hydroxide as the main odour fighter instead, with only a touch of baking soda to support it, and the formula is balanced to a skin-friendly pH. If you've reacted to baking soda deodorants in the past, patch test first and avoid applying to broken or freshly shaved skin.
Will it leave marks on my clothes?
No. It's a clear, water-based gel rather than a paste, so there's no white residue or oily marks. Let it dry for 30-60 seconds before dressing.
Is it suitable for men and women?
Yes. The 'Eucalyptus Breeze' scent is crisp and clean with a soft woody base - fresh rather than floral or heavily masculine, so it suits everyone.
