The Story of Nudi Point

The story of Nudi Point is more than the creation of a natural skincare brand - it is a journey of healing, discovery and reconnecting with nature.

It all began with a deeply personal search for healthier skin and a better way of caring for the body using natural ingredients and aromatherapy.

A Personal Journey to Natural Skincare

As a teenager, my skin was my biggest embarrassment. I struggled with severe skin problems and often felt so self-conscious that I would avoid school just to escape being seen.

This led me on an obsessive search for a clear complexion. I tried everything - harsh chemical skincare products, medications and countless treatments - but nothing truly worked. Many of the products only made things worse, leaving my skin red, irritated and flaky.

Everything changed when I discovered Naturopathy and the study of Aromatherapy.

For the first time, I began using natural botanical ingredients and essential oils to support my skin rather than fight against it. Slowly but surely, my skin improved. More importantly, I started to feel confident again.

That experience sparked a lifelong belief in the power of natural ingredients and plant-based skincare.

The First Natural Hair Product

Fast forward to my early twenties when I was living in Auckland.My next obsession became hair styling products. At any given time, I had five or six different products sitting on my dresser. But after learning more about the ingredients inside them, I was shocked to discover the potential side effects many of those chemicals could cause.

Using the knowledge I had gained from studying natural ingredients, I set out to create my own 100% natural hair styling product - something that could style hair beautifully while actually being good for it.

The result was a huge success and, even today, it remains one of our best-selling products.

That success led to a simple but powerful thought:

"What else could I create using natural ingredients?"

Returning Home to the Far North

Soon after, I made one of the best decisions of my life - I moved back to my childhood family farm in the peaceful Takahue Valley in the Far North of New Zealand.

At the end of our ten acres of paradise sits a magical swimming hole that my parents discovered shortly after they bought the land.

It is where the river bends around a point, surrounded by lush native bush and complete privacy.

One day my parents took a swim there in the nude and jokingly called it “Nudi Point.” The name stuck.

Over the past three decades, Nudi Point has become my favourite place on Earth - a place for camping with friends, writing songs and poems, thinking clearly and reconnecting with nature.

The Birth of the Nudi Point Brand

When it came time to name the business, there was really no other option.

Nudi means naked. And naked means natural.

That idea became the core philosophy of Nudi Point - embracing natural ingredients and creating products that support the body in the most natural way possible. In the early days, production was humble. I was mixing, pouring and experimenting in a converted cowshed with a tiny kitchen, full of ambition and excitement about what the future might hold.

At one business course I attended, I mentioned that I was starting a natural skincare brand. A woman responded with:

"Oh… like everybody else."

At first, it felt like a gut punch. But in that moment, it also became a turning point.

I decided that Nudi Point would never be just another skincare brand.

Instead, it would be different, authentic and genuinely connected to nature.
